Carer Support West Cumbria

At Carer Support West Cumbria we have been supporting unpaid carers for 30 years.

"A unpaid carer is anyone of any age who cares, for a friend or family member who due to illness, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction cannot cope without their support".

We’ve supported people like 15-year-old Scott, who cares for his Mum, Linda, who has MS. We’ve worked with Scott’s school to get him extra support, to stop him from falling too far behind.

We’ve supported people like 54-year-old Sally, who cares for her elderly father, John, who has dementia. We’ve provided Sally with a place on a relaxation course to help her reduce the stress she was feeling that was harming her health. We’ve helped Sally access support from Adult Social Care, and to apply for new benefits.

We’ve supported people like 9-year-old Kate, who helps look after her autistic younger brother. We’ve taken Kate on trips with other young carers, to give her a fun break away.

We offer a range of services for both adult and young carers in Allerdale and Copeland, these include:

  • Carers Assessments
  • 1:1 Support
  • Information and Signposting
  • Benefit Support
  • Carers Emergency Card
  • Trips and Activities
  • Volunteer services such as counselling, driving and more.

If you are a professional working with carers and would like any information or support, please contact us, and we will try to assist you. We’ve been working with carers in West Cumbria for 30 years and have extensive knowledge and experience that we would be happy to share.
