Support for Carers Leicestershire offers monthly Carers Support Groups for anyone looking after an adult (18+) who lives in Leicestershire. These groups provide a welcoming, relaxed, and informal space for carers to connect, share experiences, and access support.
What to expect:
- Groups last 90 minutes and often feature guest speakers.
- Sessions are held in various locations across Leicestershire, including Blaby, North-West Leicestershire, Melton, Hinckley & Bosworth, Oadby & Wigston, Charnwood, and Harborough.
- Two online support groups are available each month via Zoom: "A Cuppa with Kerry" (third Friday, 2pm) and an evening group for working-age carers (second Tuesday, 7pm).
- Online groups last 60 minutes and are staffed by Carers Wellbeing Officers.
Benefits:
- Meet other carers and build supportive friendships.
- Share and learn from others in similar situations.
- Access information, advice, and guest speakers on topics relevant to carers.
- Enjoy a safe space to talk openly about the realities of caring.
Cost: All groups are free to attend. A voluntary £1 donation towards refreshments and room hire is welcome at face-to-face groups. Most groups also run a small raffle.
How to join: No need to book—just come along to your local group or join online. For details of upcoming topics or guest speakers, check Support for Carers' social media or call 01858 468543.
