Bereavement support to children, young people and Families
Verified service

Holding On Letting Go is a dedicated charity offering free bereavement support to children, young people (up to age 18), and their families across Kent and South East London. We help children and young people hold onto precious memories and let go of the sad ones, providing compassionate care before and after the death of someone close.

Our services include:

  • Pre-bereavement support: Helping children and families prepare for an expected death, the funeral, and facing the future.
  • Post-bereavement support: Supporting children and families after a bereavement, whether recent or years later. We are here at any stage, whenever support is needed.
  • Support for families, parents, and carers: Face-to-face, one-to-one, telephone support, and postal resource packs to help you understand and support your child’s grief.
  • Community outreach: Working with schools, youth groups, and community leaders to support bereaved children in their communities.
  • Training for professionals: Specialist bereavement support training tailored to your needs.

Accessing our service is easy:

  • Anyone can make a referral – families, friends, teachers, GPs, or other professionals.
  • Support is available for all types of bereavement, including expected deaths, sudden accidents, suicide, or traumatic loss.
  • All services are free of charge to children and families.

We are committed to helping children and young people cope with grief, build resilience, and find hope for the future. Contact us today to ask a question, make a referral, or find out more about how we can help.
