Newham Advocacy Support

VoiceAbility provides a range of free, independent advocacy services for adults in Newham. Our advocates help you understand your rights, make informed decisions, and ensure your voice is heard when facing challenges related to health, care, or support.

Our services include:

  • Independent Mental Health Advocacy (IMHA): Support for people detained under the Mental Health Act, helping you understand your rights and treatment options.
  • Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy (IMCA): Support for people who lack capacity to make decisions about long-term accommodation or serious medical treatment, and have no appropriate friends or family to consult.
  • Care Act Advocacy: Help to understand your rights under the Care Act and be fully involved in decisions about your care and support, including assessments, reviews, planning, and safeguarding.
  • Relevant Person's Representative (RPR): Advocacy for people under a Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) authorisation when there is no suitable RPR.
  • Rule 1.2 Representative: Support for people who are, or may be, deprived of their liberty in a community or domestic setting.
  • General Advocacy in Newham: Support for adults (18+) living in Newham, registered with a local GP, who use adult care or mental health services, or their carers. If you are not eligible for statutory advocacy, you may still be able to access general advocacy.

How to access:

  • Anyone can make a referral using our quick and easy online form (takes less than 5 minutes).
  • If you have trouble with the online form, you can download a referral form and email it to us.
  • We also support carers of people using adult care or mental health services.

All services are free and confidential.
