Green Doctor is a free, friendly service helping households across the East Midlands stay warm, healthy, and comfortable at home.
With energy costs rising, many people face tough choices between heating and eating. Green Doctor offers free, impartial advice to help you save money, use energy efficiently, and access further support such as debt advice, emergency fuel, and food.
- Home visits: Trained energy-efficiency experts assess your home, review your utility bills, and offer practical tips to save energy and water.
- Free energy-saving items: Receive LED light bulbs, draught excluders, and more to help reduce your bills.
- Support for all: Available to anyone—homeowners, renters, council or social housing tenants—regardless of age or background.
- Extra help: We can connect you to debt advice, mental health support, emergency heating, fuel vouchers, government grants, and more.
- Landlord support: We help social housing landlords identify and resolve issues like damp, mould, and urgent repairs, improving tenant wellbeing and compliance with regulations.
On average, households can save £325 a year by following our advice. We also offer workshops for health and social care professionals on fuel poverty and carbon monoxide risks, and can speak at community events free of charge.
Accessibility: We strive to make our service accessible to all. Please let us know about any accessibility needs when you sign up. British Sign Language (BSL) is available for home visits in Derby and Nottingham; elsewhere, we can accommodate with translators or software.
Cost: All advice, home visits, and support are completely free thanks to funding from local and national partners.
