Welcome to the Ilford & West Essex Model Railway Club!
Founded in 1930, our club is one of the oldest model railway clubs in the UK. We bring together railway enthusiasts of all ages and experience levels to share in the joy of railway modelling, learning, and community.
What we offer:
- Layouts in a variety of scales, including N gauge, OO gauge, O gauge, and a permanent 7ΒΌ" gauge miniature railway in our club grounds.
- A library of over 7,000 railway and transport-related books for members to explore.
- Regular meetings, club sections, and special interest groups covering all aspects of model railways.
- Monthly open days (April to September) where the public can enjoy train rides, view model layouts, and meet club members.
- Special events such as Steam Days, exhibitions, and video features of our layouts.
Who can join? We welcome new members of all backgrounds, whether you're a seasoned modeller or just starting out. Our club is a friendly, supportive place to learn, share, and enjoy railway modelling.
Location: We are based in Chadwell Heath, near Romford in Essex.
