If you have been affected by cancer and want local, friendly support, the Cancer Support Network can help you connect with others and access practical and emotional support. The Berkshire Cancer Support Network and Cancer Champions project supports people with cancer at any point in their journey, and also supports the wider family and support network. It aims to bring together information and resources, as well as offer emotional support through online forums, social activities, and volunteer befriending. You may find this helpful if you have cancer (newly diagnosed, living with cancer, recently left treatment) or if you are supporting someone with cancer, and you live in or around Bracknell Forest and Wokingham Boroughs. Support available includes: • Regular meet-ups for group members (both in-person and online). • Information, resources, alerts, forums and advice, including signposting to other voluntary and community sector support (not for specific medical questions). • Private forums for members via WhatsApp or Facebook chat groups, offering a virtual space for support and advice outside normal working hours (available after you submit a referral). • Monthly newsletter updates (subscription available). • Cancer Champions peer support volunteers, trained volunteers with experience of cancer who can provide peer-to-peer support in the home or where needed.
