If you or someone close to you has been affected by cancer, the Cancer Support Network can help you feel less alone and get connected to local support.
The Berkshire Cancer Support Network and Cancer Champions project supports people with cancer at any point along their journey, and also supports the wider family and support network. Support includes emotional support, social activities and meet-ups, and help to find relevant local services, resources and information (not for specific medical questions).
You may find this helpful if you are newly diagnosed, living with cancer, have recently left treatment, or you are supporting someone with cancer and want a local network.
Ways you can get support include regular meet-ups for members (both in-person and online), private peer-support forums via WhatsApp or Facebook chat groups (available to members after referral), and monthly newsletter updates.
Cancer Champions are trained peer support volunteers with experience of cancer. They can offer peer-to-peer support in your home or where needed, including a listening ear and short-term practical help such as shopping, light gardening, or driving to appointments, for a few hours a week over an agreed time period.
To get started, you can call 01344 304 404 or email cancer@involve.community for an informal chat before making a referral, or complete the referral form on the website.
Cost information is not stated on the website.
