If you have been affected by cancer and want local, community-based support, the Cancer Support Network can help you connect with others, find information, and get practical and emotional support. The Berkshire Cancer Support Network and Cancer Champions project supports people with cancer at any point in their journey, and also supports the wider family and support network. It is for anyone with cancer, or those supporting them, located in or around the Bracknell Forest and Wokingham Boroughs. Support includes: - A local support network with regular meet-ups for members, both in-person and online - Social activities and opportunities to meet others, make friends and share experiences - Information, resources and signposting (as long as it is not a specific medical question) - Private member forums and chat groups (WhatsApp or Facebook), which you can request to join once you submit a referral - Monthly newsletter updates (subscription available) Cancer Champions (peer support volunteers) can also offer direct peer-to-peer support in your home or where needed. This can include a listening ear and short-term practical help such as shopping, light gardening, or driving to appointments, for a few hours a week over an agreed time period. You may find this helpful if you have cancer (newly diagnosed, living with cancer, or recently left treatment), or if you are supporting someone who has been affected by cancer and you want local support in Bracknell Forest or Wokingham.
