Sew Positive is a unique UK charity dedicated to building communities and supporting individuals facing social exclusion. Through free sewing workshops and courses, we help people nurture their mental health, develop mindfulness, and build confidence, all while promoting sustainability and reducing textile waste.
Our workshops teach basic sewing skills, including hand and machine sewing, mending, upcycling, and repurposing clothes and textiles. Participants can create and embellish items such as face masks, aprons, seasonal decorations, bunting, cushions, and clothes. We welcome individuals from all backgrounds, especially those experiencing mental health challenges, long-term unemployment, poverty, health issues, abuse, or lack of access to appropriate housing.
Key features of Sew Positive:
- Free sewing workshops and courses for individuals and community groups
- Focus on mental health, wellbeing, and building a sense of belonging
- Opportunities to volunteer, collaborate, and support others
- Partnerships with local organisations to reach those most in need
- Business events for employee wellbeing and team building
- Advanced skill masterclasses and sustainability-focused tutorials
Our mission is to create a climate-positive impact by reducing textile waste and encouraging sustainable choices. Join us to learn new skills, connect with others, and make a difference in your community and the environment.
