This service is designed to support disabled children, young adults, and their families in Kent who are receiving or considering Direct Payments from Kent County Council. Direct Payments give you the freedom to choose and manage your child’s care and support, tailored to your family’s needs.
Our friendly team offers practical, informative support every step of the way:
- Guidance to help you understand the Direct Payment Agreement
- Advice on recruiting Personal Assistants (PAs), including help with adverts, application forms, and collating responses
- DBS checks for PAs
- Support with good employment practice
- Help managing your Direct Payment budget
- Information in accessible formats if required
- Template documents for all your needs
Support is available face-to-face, by phone, or email from your dedicated Direct Payment Case Worker. We aim to make the process as simple and stress-free as possible, so you can focus on what matters most: your child’s wellbeing.
Important update: From 1st April 2025, We Are Beams will no longer hold the Kent County Council contract to support parents with Direct Payments. For new queries, please contact your social worker.
