Volunteering opportunities

Make a difference in your community and beyond by volunteering with the British Red Cross.

Volunteering with us is a rewarding way to support people in crisis, develop new skills, and connect with like-minded individuals. Whether you want to help in emergencies, support refugees, work in our charity shops, or lead workshops, there’s a role to suit your interests and availability.

  • Wide range of roles: Emergency response, health and care, fundraising, charity shop support, national support line, and more.
  • Flexible opportunities: Find roles near you in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Cardiff, or search for other locations across the UK.
  • Support and training: All volunteers receive full training and ongoing support.
  • Inclusive recruitment: We welcome applications from people aged 18+, teenagers aged 15 and over, and those with lived experience as refugees or asylum seekers. We are committed to fair and inclusive recruitment, including for those with criminal convictions (see our Recruitment of Ex-Offenders Policy).
  • Positive impact: 89% of volunteers feel they’re making a difference, 75% say it improves their mental health and wellbeing, and 72% gain new skills and experience.

How to apply:

  • Find a role near you using our online search.
  • Complete the application form and track your progress via confirmation email.
  • Our friendly recruiters will arrange a phone conversation to discuss the opportunity and any required checks.
  • Full training is provided for every role.

Join us and be part of a global movement of care and compassion. Make an impact today!
