Healthwise Physical Activity Referral Scheme (Islington)

The Healthwise Physical Activity Referral Scheme (PARS) in Islington supports residents to improve their physical and mental health by reducing risk factors for chronic disease and managing existing medical conditions. This 12-week programme offers personalised physical activity plans and group-based activities suitable for all levels and abilities. Activities include supervised gym sessions, group exercise classes, water-based exercise, and community activity options like group walks. These sessions are delivered at Sobell Leisure Centre (N7 7NY), Ironmonger Row Baths (EC1V 3AA), Archway Leisure Centre (N19 5DD), and Islington Tennis Centre and Gym (N7 9PL). Home-based programmes are also available. The scheme is funded by Islington Council. To join, a referral from your GP or specialist is required. Once received, the Healthwise team will contact you by text, email, or phone to book an initial assessment. While the scheme is free to access, a Healthy Living membership is needed for leisure centre-based activities such as gym sessions, group exercise classes, and swimming, which is valid at all leisure centres in the London Borough of Islington.
