Computer Skills for All is a free digital support programme for Shropshire residents, designed to help people build confidence and skills in using computers and the internet. Whether you’re a complete beginner or want to improve your digital know-how, our friendly volunteers are here to help you get online, stay safe, and make the most of technology.
What we offer:
- Free one-to-one support at council-funded digital learning hubs across Shropshire.
- Help with using computers, tablets, and smartphones, including staying safe online and accessing essential services.
- Access to free online courses through Learn My Way and the National Careers Service.
- Support available in Shropshire Libraries and other community centres.
- Limited free devices and internet connectivity for those unable to afford their own.
Who can access this service?
- People over 65 years
- Those living alone
- Anyone in receipt of a means-tested benefit or on a low income
- Unpaid carers for friends or family members
- People receiving paid or unpaid care
- Individuals with a disability or health condition
How it works:
- Visit your nearest participating library or community centre, or contact the centre that best meets your needs.
- Friendly volunteers provide support in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.
- Feedback from participants is overwhelmingly positive, with many reporting increased confidence and independence.
Want to volunteer? We’re always looking for patient, IT-literate volunteers to help others learn digital skills. Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, develop your own skills, and make a real difference in your community.
Cost: All support and courses are free of charge for eligible participants.
