OPENING SUNDAY 8TH MARCH FOR OUR FIRST REFERRALS
Malvern Community Kitchen aims to help tackle child food poverty in Malvern by providing free meals to families with at least one child under 18 that are struggling with the cost of living crisis, on a referral basis from local GPs and our local Social Prescribing Partners. Once referred into our project, families will be invited to join us for a high quality freshly cooked early evening supper at 4:30pm & 5:30pm every week for a period of 6 months, initially on Sundays at the Octagon Centre. We hope to open on additional evenings in our first few months of operation.
At the heart of this project will be respect for the dignity of our clients. The intention is to make this as close to a ‘going out for dinner with your family’ experience as possible. We will look to signpost clients to other relevant local services and in the medium term intend to look to recruit staff and volunteers from amongst the community we seek to serve, providing relevant training where necessary. We will ask those attending for a voluntary contribution of £1 per adult each week - children free.
Given the extended period of support we intend to provide, our capacity will be limited: we are relying on our local GPs and Social Prescribing partners to refer only those families who, in their professional opinion, are most in need of and most able to benefit from a referral to our Community Kitchen project.
Families in Malvern (WR14) with at least one child under 18 who are struggling with the cost of living crisis. All members of one family living in the same household will be welcome to join us for a family supper. One referral form per family is all we need.
