Richmond EAL Friendship Group

Free informal English classes and access to services for adults with English as an additional language (EAL).

Since 2001, the Richmond EAL Friendship Group has supported over 1,000 EAL speakers from 66 different language backgrounds. The group offers a welcoming space for adults to improve their English, make new friends, and access local services. Many participants use the group as a launchpad towards volunteering, paid employment, and accredited learning opportunities.

We break down barriers of religion, language, ethnicity, and economic status, helping people from all backgrounds connect and collaborate. This has led to long-term friendships and a strong sense of community.
