Marie Curie's Telephone Bereavement Support Service offers up to six free sessions over the phone with the same bereavement support volunteer. Each session provides a safe, confidential space to discuss your feelings around bereavement, lasting up to 45 minutes.
This service is designed for adults aged 18 or above who are grieving after someone has died from a terminal illness. Whether your loss is recent or happened some time ago, our volunteers are here to help you talk through your feelings, share information, or simply listen.
- Free of charge – no cost for sessions.
- Up to six sessions – with the same volunteer for continuity.
- Confidential and supportive – a safe space to talk.
- Not counselling – emotional support only, not formal therapy.
To access the service, book a call and we aim to contact you within seven working days to discuss starting your sessions and answer any questions. You can also call our Support Line for more information.
Support Line hours: 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm Saturday to Sunday.
Calls are free from landlines and mobiles.
