The Helping Hands Gardening Scheme from VCAEC offers practical gardening support for older, disabled, or vulnerable people living in East Cambridgeshire. Whether you need a one-off garden tidy or regular help to keep your outdoor space manageable, our friendly team is here to assist.
How it works:
- Our volunteers, supported by a paid supervisor, visit your home to carry out gardening tasks. Typically, three or four people will work together to help you reclaim and maintain your garden.
- We aim to make gardens safer, reducing risks of trips and falls, and helping prevent break-ins or vandalism associated with unkempt gardens.
- Enjoy the health and wellbeing benefits of being outdoors, with support tailored to your needs.
Who can use this service?
- Residents of East Cambridgeshire who are older, disabled, or otherwise vulnerable.
Cost: The scheme is funded by voluntary donations. We suggest a donation of £30 per hour (with an average of 3 volunteers per visit), but every case is assessed individually. Some users may pay less, or nothing, depending on circumstances. We want everyone who needs help to be able to access the service.
Availability: Operating Monday to Thursday, 9:00am to 1:30pm. If the team is out, you can leave a message and they will get back to you.
