Zest at Home: Enriching dementia arts experiences

Zest at Home is a free, creative programme from Bright Shadow, designed for people living with dementia in Kent and Medway who are unable to access group sessions, are isolated, or experiencing a crisis or sudden loss of communication skills.

We offer bespoke creative sessions in your own home, delivered by professional artists matched to your interests and needs. Sessions may include music, visual art, poetry, performance, and photography, tailored to each individual or small group.

  • Free of charge – funded by donations and fundraising.
  • Safe and enjoyable – all artists are DBS checked and sessions are risk assessed.
  • Flexible and responsive – we work with families, carers, and professionals to ensure sessions meet personal needs.
  • Respite available – session time can be used creatively or as agreed, for respite.

To get started, simply self-refer or refer someone in your care using the form on our website. We’ll have an initial conversation to understand your needs and match you with an artist. Our next round of sessions begins Summer 2024.

Eligibility: Anyone living with dementia in Kent and Medway who cannot attend group Zest sessions or is experiencing a crisis or loss of communication skills.

Session details: Most sessions are one-to-one, but small group options are available. Up to 5 sessions are offered, with the possibility of more depending on fundraising and demand.
