Thurston Library – Activities Offered
Children & Families

  • Wordplay: stories, songs, and rhymes for babies and toddlers under 5 every Wednesday morning.
  • Lego Club on Sundays: a drop-in building session for children, with adults welcome to accompany them.
  • Baby Bounce / Wordplay: nursery rhymes and interactive songs for children aged 0–4.

 

Adult & Community

  • Thurston Writers Group: a monthly creative writing group for writers of all levels.
  • Book Groups: informal monthly book discussions, typically held on the second Wednesday of each month.
  • Get Connected Digital Skills Sessions: support with technology, including smartphones, online safety, and email, held twice a month.
  • Sewing / “Sewcial” Group: regular get-togethers for people who enjoy sewing, to share projects and chat.
  • Knitting & Crochet Workshops: sessions for people interested in knitting or crocheting.
  • Ancestry Club: advice and support for researching family history, held on the first and third Saturdays of the month.

Art & Hobbies

  • Watercolour Art Club: weekly painting sessions for those interested in watercolour.
  • Adult Lego Club: sessions for adults who enjoy building with Lego.

Monthly & Special Events

  • Last Tuesday Baking Club: a social baking group held on the last Tuesday of each month.
  • Last Monday Book Club: monthly book-club meetings.
  • Simply Sing Choir: a monthly singing group.

Other Services

  • Free internet, WiFi, printing, photocopying, and scanning.
  • Room hire for meetings or community activities.
  • The library also provides a “warm space,” offering free tea and coffee and a welcoming place for the community to gather.
