Merton Autism Parent Service (MAPS)

Merton Autism Parent Service (MAPS) offers confidential, family-centred support for parents and carers of young people aged 0–25 with a diagnosis of autism or who are likely to receive a diagnosis. Our service is delivered by trained Parent Advisors who have lived experience of autism in their own families, ensuring empathy and understanding in every session.

What we offer:

  • Confidential listening, support, and information sessions
  • Advice on a wide range of topics, including communication, challenging behaviours, self-harming, sleep issues, and anxiety
  • Evidence-based strategies and practical tools, approved by professionals
  • Sessions available in-person or remotely, to suit your needs

We are here to help if you need practical advice about supporting someone with autism, are facing difficulties at home or in the community, or want reassurance about your family’s approach. Our team will listen to you and provide tailored support in a relaxed, informal setting.

Please note: We do not provide help with EHCPs, SEN support in schools, or education placements. We also do not diagnose autism or offer detailed welfare benefits advice. For these services, please visit the Merton Local Offer.

Useful resources: Download our MAPS Toolkit for tips on communication, behaviour, sleep, and more. We also provide links to local and national organisations for further support.
