The Healthy Living Project (Stay Well Stay Safe: Healthy Futures) is a health and wellbeing programme for disabled people living in Barking and Dagenham. It aims to improve wellbeing by increasing physical activity, promoting healthy lifestyles and teaching healthy cooking. Activities include a Multisport Programme, Park Fit Programme and Fitness Buddies—delivered through group sessions, buddy mentoring and informal activities organised by peers. Participants gain access to training via Barking and Dagenham E-Learning and Barking & Dagenham College, with the Cookery School helping participants learn to prepare simple, healthy meals and hosting a monthly Supper Club and Come Dine With Me–style events. The project is open to disabled people of all ages in the borough; non-disabled people can get involved as volunteers (Fitness Buddies, Health and Sports Mentors, Digital Buddies) to support disabled participants. Disabled participants who complete training can become peer support group leaders or mentors to help sustain activities. The project continues to grow, with new activities added regularly, and interested individuals should contact the office to learn what is currently available. Cost information is not stated on the website.
