Sharing Time is a free telephone befriending service from Age UK Cheshire, designed for people over 50 living in Cheshire who would benefit from a regular, friendly chat.
Loneliness is a reality for many older people, and this service aims to help by matching you with a volunteer for weekly phone calls. Whether you want to share stories, enjoy a friendly conversation, or simply hear a caring voice, our volunteers are here to help you feel more connected.
- Who can use this service? Anyone aged 50 or over living in Cheshire who would like regular phone calls for companionship and support.
- How does it work? After you sign up, you’ll be matched with a volunteer who will call you once a week (or more, if you both agree). Calls are arranged at a time that suits you both.
- Is there a cost? This service is completely free.
- How do I sign up? Call 01606 305012 or email linda.smith@ageukcheshire.org.uk to register your interest.
- Want to volunteer? If you’re over 18 and can spare an hour a week, you can become a befriender. Volunteer induction is completed remotely at your convenience. Email volunteering@ageukcheshire.org.uk to get started.
Important: The Telephone Befriending Service is currently at capacity and not accepting new referrals or volunteers. Age UK Cheshire will update when this changes and can signpost you to other organisations in the meantime.
