Centre 33 Young Carers Service

Centre 33 offers free, confidential support for young adult carers aged 16 to 25 living in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

If you care, unpaid, for a family member or partner with an illness, disability, mental health condition, or addiction, Centre 33 is here to help you. We understand the challenges you may face, such as feeling isolated, balancing social life with caring responsibilities, finding work or training, managing your mental health, or accessing benefits and Carer's Allowance.

  • Emotional and practical support: Talk to someone who understands your situation and can help you manage the challenges of caring.
  • Help with life transitions: Get support with education, employment, and planning for your future.
  • Advice on benefits and rights: Learn about your legal rights as a young adult carer and get help with benefits applications.
  • Drop-in hubs: Visit one of our five local hubs for in-person support, or contact us by phone, text, WhatsApp, or email.
  • Peer support: Connect with other young adult carers and share your experiences.
  • Resources and self-care: Access the Young Carers Support App for information, wellbeing tips, and a directory of services.

Our team is friendly, approachable, and ready to listen. You can self-refer at any time, and we encourage you to reach out in the way that works best for you. All support is free and confidential.

Service access criteria: The young person must be aged 18 or under and live in the Cambridgeshire or Peterborough area. They will help to look after someone in their family who has a diagnosed mental or physical illness, disability or is dependent on drugs or alcohol (or a combination of these). They may offer emotional or physical or practical support (or a combination of these) and may take on tasks that are usually done by an adult. They may be impacted in the following ways: physical or emotional wellbeing, education or aspirations, increased social isolation, bullying or problems with friendships, access to opportunities, risk taking behaviours. They will need to be referrer to the young carers service via the online referral form which can be completed by a professional, family member or by the young person themselves. Parental consent must be gained for young people under the age of 13.
