Tier 2 Adult Weight Management – Richmond & Wandsworth

Enable are working in partnership with Richmond and Wandsworth Council Public Health Team to fund the delivery of our free to access 12-week weight management service. The service takes a holistic approach to weight loss, focusing on behaviour change and creating sustainable healthy habits. Sessions run for two hours per week with a one-hour nutrition session delivered by a Registered Nutritionist or Dietician covering topics such as:

  • Macronutrients: Carbohydrates, Fats & Protein
  • Micronutrients & Hydration
  • Food Labels, Food Shopping & Eating Healthy on a Budget
  • Dietary Interventions & Myth Busting: The Mediterranean Diet, Portion Control, Intermittent Fasting & more
  • Overcoming Barriers to Change, Building Better Habits & Goal Setting
  • Hormones & Weight Management
  • Physical Activity & Overall Health
  • The Sleep-Health Connection
  • Stress & Emotional Eating
  • Snacks, Alcohol & Eating Out

The nutrition session is then followed by a one-hour exercise class, with a qualified Physical Activity Instructor. The class offers a variety of aerobic, anaerobic and chair-based exercises depending on participant’s abilities. 

We will be running programmes across Richmond and Wandsworth in localities and facilities that are accessible and near to you. The places are limited on each programme, however we will be running multiple sessions throughout the year. There is also a virtual or hybrid option via Zoom available for those unable to attend the in-person session, offering the full service as above.

Once your referral is received, a team member will contact you within five working days to confirm and provide access to a range of healthy lifestyle resources that you can use while on the waiting list. You’ll also have the opportunity to join our quarterly virtual information sessions, where you’ll learn more about the service and take part in a taster nutrition and/or physical activity session before the programme begins.

After completing the programme, you’ll receive a comprehensive list of local options to help you continue your health and wellbeing journey. This includes discounted gym memberships, free walking groups, cooking classes, discounted art or creative workshops to support mental wellbeing, and more!

  2. Click ‘continue, I don’t have a Joy account’
  3. Click ‘I am signing up myself’ and enter your details
  4. Remember to select which programme you would like to attend from the dropdown list, if none are available, click ‘I would like to be considered for future programmes’
  5. Finally, click submit, and we will be in contact with you as soon as possible

Service access criteria:

To access the programme participants must be:

  • Over 18
  • Adults with a BMI between 30 and 40
  • Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) adults should have a BMI between 27.5 and 40

Exclusion criteria:

  • Pregnant
  • Adults with complex obesity and/or comorbidities - with a BMI 40 kg/m2 or more
  • Pre-diabetic (42-47 mmol/mol)
