West Cambs Hundreds Nature Reserves - Wildlife Trust BCN

Discover the beauty and tranquility of the West Cambs Hundreds Nature Reserves, managed by the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire (BCN).

This area, located between Gamlingay, Cambourne, and Comberton, features several ancient woodland reserves and the accessible Cambourne Nature Reserve. All sites are open every day, all day, and offer a range of outdoor activities for all ages and interests.

  • Guided walks: Gentle strolls of 2-3 miles, focusing on seasonal wildlife, bird song, and bats. Small group sizes make these walks friendly and engaging.
  • Little Bugs: Outdoor sessions for toddlers and their parents/carers, encouraging natural play and learning about nature at Cambourne Nature Reserve.
  • Wild Babies: Activities for parents/carers of pre-walking babies, including buggy-friendly strolls and group chats in nature.
  • Wild in the Woods: Family sessions during school holidays, featuring pond dipping, bug hunting, adventure walks, and shelter-building.
  • Volunteering: Opportunities include practical conservation work, helping wildlife (like toads crossing roads), and supporting the Trust’s community work.
