Spade is Richmond AID’s award-winning gardening service, designed to help disabled and older people in the borough enjoy their gardens again.
Our dedicated team of volunteer gardeners provides basic gardening maintenance, including:
- Weeding
- Mowing the lawn
- Pruning
- Raking leaves
Whether you’re an experienced gardener or a beginner, we welcome volunteers who are passionate about the outdoors and conservation. Our volunteers help clear up overgrown gardens, making outdoor spaces safe, tidy, and enjoyable.
How it works:
- A volunteer visits your garden to help with maintenance and tidying.
- We ask for a £30 suggested donation for up to two and a half hours of work, which helps us cover costs. Additional donations, including unused tools and gardening equipment, are also welcome.
- Our capacity to take on new clients is limited at present, so please contact us to check availability.
Who can benefit?
- Disabled people and older adults living in the Richmond borough who need help maintaining their gardens.
How to get started:
- Contact Sarah Noble for more information or to request support.
- If you’re interested in volunteering, reach out to learn how you can contribute.
Why choose Spade?
- Enjoy your garden again, with friendly support from local volunteers.
- Conserve the local environment and connect with your community.
- Flexible for both clients and volunteers.
