Ham & Petersham SOS

Ham & Petersham SOS is a friendly, neighbourhood-based charity dedicated to supporting older and/or disabled residents in Ham and Petersham. Our mission is to help people stay active, engaged, and independent in their own homes and community.

What We Offer:

  • Practical Support: Our volunteers provide transport to medical appointments and social activities, help with shopping (including a weekly shopping bus), pick up prescriptions, and offer daily telephone support (10am–12pm).
  • Social Initiative: We help members connect with others through regular befriending visits, monthly outings, coffee mornings at Petersham Nurseries, weekly lunch clubs at Ham Library, and weekly Tea & Chat gatherings. We also host seasonal parties and special events like Fish & Chip Friday.
  • Door-to-Door Shopping Bus: Weekly trips to Sainsbury’s in Kingston, with volunteers to help carry shopping to your door.

Membership & Costs:

  • Annual membership fee: £10, which includes benefits like a quarterly newsletter, subsidised outings, and free entry to Kew Gardens.
  • No charge for most services, but a small donation is suggested for activities or transport. Fish & Chip Friday costs £8 per session, payable in advance.

How to Access:

  • Contact us by phone or email to register yourself, a relative, or a friend. We’ll send you an information pack and help you get started.
