Havering's School Nursing Service is a universal service for children aged 5 to 19 years and their families. It supports health and wellbeing across school communities, promoting healthy nutrition, physical activity and emotional wellbeing, and works with individual children and young people facing physical or mental health challenges. The service is commissioned by Public Health for Havering and delivered by North East London Foundation Trust (NELFT) in partnership with schools. It runs the National Child Measurement Programme for reception (4–5 years) and Year 6 (10–11 years) with appropriate advice and onward referral for those identified as under/overweight. The school nursing service is integrated with the local health visiting service to support smooth transitions from age five. The local service also offers support to children and families not educated in school settings (including home educated). Access is via Havering’s 0–19 Single Point of Access; contact details above.
