Support for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic young men

The Brave Project C.I.C offers a range of accessible, culturally competent services for Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) young men (aged 13-30) and their guardians/carers. Our person-centered approach uses creative and holistic tools to support social, emotional, and mental health needs.

What We Offer:

  • Mentoring & Coaching Programmes: Personalised support for individuals and families, including help with benefits, debt, training, employment, volunteering, and overall wellbeing. Group and one-to-one sessions empower participants to set goals, discover strengths, and overcome challenges. Special programmes are available for men in custody, focusing on personal development, suicide prevention, and reducing reoffending risk.
  • Suicide Prevention Workshops: The “You Know My Name, Not My Story” workshop creates a safe space for open discussion, self-awareness, and stigma reduction. It covers mental health topics and provides resources for seeking help. The associated podcast shares personal experiences and offers valuable information.
  • Non-Clinical Art Therapy: Safe, creative sessions for self-expression, stress reduction, emotional release, and self-reflection.
  • Bespoke Workshops: Tailored for schools, colleges, organisations, or workplaces, addressing mental health and wellbeing. Both online and in-person options are available.
  • Signposting Information: Accessible resources and connections to relevant support services for BAME boys and young men at higher risk of suicide or affected by it.
  • Consultancy: Packages to foster systematic change, cultural competence, and equality in mental health support for BAME young people and families.

How to Access:

  • Single point of access and self-referral form available online.
  • Open to BAME young men and their parents/guardians. Organisations can also refer.
  • Workshops and programmes are delivered by trauma-trained, mental health qualified staff.

Important: The Brave Project C.I.C is not an emergency mental health service. Free mental health service opportunities are limited and selective, and there may be a waiting period. For emergencies, call 999 or go to A&E.
