Steady Steps
Steady Steps is a specialist falls prevention exercise programme for anyone aged over 60s who:
- Have had a fall
- Are worried they might have a fall
- Have been feeling off-balance
Classes last between 45 minutes to 1 hour. The programme is run in blocks of 12.
The exercises in class are designed to improve:
- Muscle strength
- Balance
- Flexibility
- Co-ordination
- Confidence
The classes comprise of the following sections:
- Warm-up
- Stamina
- Balance and co-ordination exercises
- Strengthening
- Cool down
All classes are run by qualified Falls Prevention Instructors.
Service provided by Wokingham Borough Council
Classes take place at:
- Loddon Valley Leisure Centre in Lower Earley
- Bulmershe Leisure Centre
- Wokingham Leisure Centre @ Carnival Hub in Wokingham
Currently, classes run in Lower Earley, Wokingham and Woodley.
