Green Doctor is a free, friendly service helping households across the East Midlands to stay warm, healthy, and comfortable at home.
With energy costs rising, many people face tough choices between heating and eating. Green Doctor offers free, impartial advice to help you save money, use energy efficiently, and access further support such as debt advice, emergency fuel, and food.
- Home visits: Trained Green Doctors assess your home, review utility bills, and provide easy-to-follow tips to save energy and water.
- Free energy-saving items: Receive LED light bulbs, draught excluders, and more to help cut costs.
- Support for landlords: We help social housing providers identify and resolve issues like damp, mould, and urgent repairs, bridging the gap between tenants and landlords.
- Further help: Access support for debt, mental health, emergency heating, fuel vouchers, government grants, and more.
- Workshops: We offer free talks for community groups and residents’ workshops to build skills for maintaining a safe, warm home.
This service is completely free and open to anyone—homeowners, renters, council or social housing tenants—regardless of age or background. On average, households can save up to £325 a year by following our advice.
Accessibility: We strive to make our service accessible to all. Please mention any accessibility needs when signing up. British Sign Language (BSL) visits are available in Derby and Nottingham; elsewhere, we can accommodate with translators or software.
