Newham Adult Social Care Occupational Therapy Team

The role of the Occupational Therapy team is to work with individual patients to increase their independence and safety to undertake everyday activities (occupations) that are important to them.

Important: Please advise patients to complete an assessment via Ask Sara before you make a referral to Occupational Therapy. The link to access the self-assessment is here.

Occupational therapy work with people who have a long term health condition who meet at least one of the criteria below:

  • They’ve already tried basic equipment and it’s not meeting their long-term needs
  • More complex equipment/adaptions are required
  • The patient is likely to have a neurological or degenerative condition that fluctuates
  • The patient has limited rehab potential
